Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and the provider of QuizLocky ("QuizLocky", "we", "us", "our") and govern your use of the QuizLocky mobile application and the website at quizlocky.site (together, the "Service"). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

QuizLocky helps you study by turning material you provide into flashcards and quizzes, and by letting you lock distracting apps on your device until you complete a quiz. App-locking is performed using Apple's Screen Time / Family Controls framework on your device. Its effectiveness depends on Apple's frameworks, your device, and your settings.

2. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use QuizLocky. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or guardian agrees to these Terms on your behalf. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that occurs under your account, and you agree to provide accurate information.

3. Subscriptions, free trial, and billing

• QuizLocky offers auto-renewing subscriptions: a weekly plan and an annual plan, with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, or at the end of any free trial period.
• Your subscription renews automatically at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your device's App Store account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals but does not retroactively refund the current period.
• If you cancel during the free trial before it ends, you will not be charged. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
• Prices may vary by region and may change over time; we will communicate changes as required by law and by Apple's rules.

All purchases are processed by Apple and are also subject to Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions. Billing and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies; we do not process payments or issue refunds directly.

4. Right of withdrawal (EU/EEA consumers)

If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a purchase of digital services. By starting to use the paid features (including during any free trial) you request that the service begins immediately and acknowledge that your right of withdrawal may be lost once the service has been fully performed. Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple.

5. Your content

The study material you upload or create ("Your Content") remains yours. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, and process Your Content solely to operate the Service for you — for example, to generate cards and quizzes and to sync your decks across sessions. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any material you upload and that it does not infringe the rights of others or contain unlawful content.

6. AI-generated content

QuizLocky uses artificial intelligence to generate study questions, answers, and coach responses. AI can produce inaccurate or incomplete information. You should review generated content for accuracy and must not rely on it as a sole or authoritative source. QuizLocky is a study aid and does not guarantee any particular academic result, grade, or outcome.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for unlawful purposes or to upload illegal, harmful, infringing, or abusive content.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems.
• Abuse, overload, or attempt to circumvent rate limits, security, or access controls.
• Use the Service to build a competing product, or resell or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that create risk or legal exposure for us or other users.

8. Intellectual property

The QuizLocky app, its design, branding, the "Locky" mascot, text, and software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial study. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or branding.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties including Apple, Supabase, OpenAI, and RevenueCat. Your use of the Service may also be subject to their terms. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of third-party providers.

10. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that results will be accurate, or that app-locking will be effective in every situation, since this depends on Apple's frameworks and your device configuration. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot be excluded under mandatory consumer law applicable to you.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, QuizLocky and its provider will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or academic outcomes, arising from or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (including mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence).

12. Termination

You may stop using QuizLocky and delete your account at any time from within the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date and, where the changes are significant, notify you within the app. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of your home country. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
